The goal is wholeness, not perfection.

I take an experiential, body-centered approach to working with adult individuals and couples.

What is an experiential body-centered approach?

I believe that the kinds of life-affirming shifts clients seek happen through awareness and acceptance of what is true now.  As we work to notice, allow, be curious about, and support our total experience including our body sensations, our breath, our thoughts, our emotions, our style of relating and our self-story around our histories, change is made possible.  Experiential, body-centered therapy is an approach that incorporates self-awareness principles to help us remain fully alive and present with whatever we are facing in our life at any particular moment.  From a place of presence we can then make new choices rather than repeat old patterns of response, which may not match our internal desires.

I work using many traditional theories of psychotherapy combined with newer body-based theory and research.  I am influenced by Gestalt Therapy, Hakomi, Bioenergetics, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Self Psychology, Transpersonal Psychology and Art, Music and Drama Therapy.  I am also trained in EMDR.
