Spring 2008

A wedding is a powerful rite of passage.  Our culture tends to focus on the external event, often leaving brides on their own to manage the full range of feelings, both light and dark, that naturally accompany any transformation.

This group is designed to:
*  Give brides time out from the planning to re-connect with themselves*  Share and receive support in a safe, caring space with other brides-to-be
*  Learn about rites of passage and how to align with the energy of transformation
*  Practice mindfulness and body-centered techniques to cope with stress, and increase clarity, presence, and self-compassion

Fee: $ 50. / session Sliding scale available
Initial interview required

INTIMATE, HONEST and REAL

Marjorie offers this group in both San Francisco and Oakland.

Safety and trust are essential to the creation of a therapeutic  group environment that fosters  here-and-now self disclosure, self awareness, self expression, sensitive honest feedback and constructive confrontation. In this group, you will have the opportunity to discuss important issues in your lives especially those that cause difficulty in relating to others and that inhibit your authenticity and aliveness in those relationships. An important function of a process group includes exploring and expressing the feelings and reactions you are having in the here and now toward the other members of the group and the group leader. Ultimately, your participation in the group can have a positive and enlivening effect on significant relationships with family members, friends, co-workers and intimate partners.

This group is designed for adults, who have some experience with individual, couples, family or group therapy and are willing to make a one year (minimum) commitment to seeing others and being seen by them.  (Note: it’s not as scary as it sounds)

People who may find the group helpful include those:

1. Seeking a genuine sense of connection with others.
2. Transitioning out of individual therapy and wishing to continue personal growth work in a facilitated group setting.
3. Exploring issues regarding "being seen and heard."
4. Curious about how they are experienced by others.
5. New to the area and desiring a sense of group community.
6. Learning how disagreement  and healthy conflict can build more intimate resilient relationships.
